Jean C. Lampert, LMFT (MFC #52759) provides counseling and psychotherapy for adults and adolescents in the following areas: Ventura County and surrounding areas, including Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Ojai, Oak View, La Conchita, Carpinteria, Montecito, Santa Barbara, Moorpark, Somis, Santa Paula, Fillmore and Simi Valley.
I work with clients on issues of stress, anxiety, and relationship concerns all the time, but I specialize in helping those who are facing major life challenges, including loss of loved ones, traumatic events, and divorce or separation. Regardless of age or circumstance, my goal is to help my clients reduce stress and overwhelm, and increase a sense of stability and well-being.
Certified EMDR Therapist
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR involves a protocol of using Bi-Lateral Stimulation while targeting distressing material and impacts the way the brain processes, generally increasing objectivity and a sense of resolution. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist through EMDRIA, the EMDR International Association, and I participate in ongoing consultation and training with leaders in the field. Since 2015, I have assisted Craig Penner, LMFT as he trains therapists nationally and internationally in Somatic Focused EMDR Therapy.
My passion for grief counseling comes from years of experience at Camarillo Hospice, where I supported adults, children, teens, and couples through the wilderness of parent, spouse, child, sibling, and friend loss. I have worked with people facing a broad spectrum of loss experiences, including those whose loved one died after long illnesses, by suicide, or unexpectedly in accidents or other ways. I believe one of my roles as a grief counselor is supporting my clients in their search for meaning after loss, and am involved with continual training through The Sacred Art of Living and Dying program in Oregon.
Somatic and Mindfulness Approaches
By utilizing mindfulness and somatic (body) interventions, I teach my clients concrete skills to reduce symptoms of stress in the nervous system and help stabilize the body and mind. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Intermediate Participant, and am trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model through the Trauma Resiliency Institute.
